Cook Book — Privacy Policy

Effective date: 21 July 2026

Cook Book ("the app") is a recipe app published by Whoolab Technologies ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes. The short version:

We do not collect your data. Nothing leaves your device to us. Cook Book has no accounts and no servers of ours. Your recipes, shopping list, cooking history and settings live only on your phone. We never see, receive, sell or share any of it.

1. Data stored on your device

Everything you create in Cook Book is stored locally on your device only:

We have no access to any of this. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, it is permanently deleted.

2. Optional AI features (bring your own key)

AI features (generating a recipe, importing a recipe from text or a photo, adjusting steps when scaling, tidying the shopping list) are optional and only work if you add your own API key from one of these providers: Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (ChatGPT).

When you use an AI feature, the content needed for that request — for example an ingredient list, recipe text, or a photo of a recipe you chose — is sent directly from your device to the provider you selected. It never passes through us. That processing is governed by the provider's own terms and privacy policy:

Your API key is stored only in your device's secure storage and is used only to call the provider you chose. You can replace or remove it at any time in Settings.

3. Photos

If you import a recipe from a photo, the app uses the single photo you pick, reduces its size, and sends it directly to your chosen AI provider to read the recipe. The app does not upload your photo anywhere else and does not access your photo library beyond the picture you select.

4. Links you import

If you paste a link to import a recipe, the app fetches that web page directly from your device to read its content.

5. Sharing and exports

Sharing a recipe or cookbook creates a file on your device and hands it to the app you choose via your phone's share sheet. Where it goes from there is entirely your choice.

6. Notifications

The app may show local notifications for cooking timers. These are generated on your device; no push-notification service is used.

7. What we don't do

8. Children

Cook Book is a general-audience app and is not directed at children under 13. Since the app collects no personal data, no child data is collected either.

9. Data deletion

Your data is yours to delete at any time: remove individual items in the app, clear the app's storage in your phone's settings, or uninstall the app. Because we hold no copies, deletion on your device is complete deletion.

10. Security

Your AI key is kept in the platform's encrypted secure storage. Recipe data is stored in the app's private storage area, which other apps cannot read. AI requests are sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

11. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data, we will update this policy and the effective date above before the change takes effect.
